“The Seven Deadly Sins” Of Communication…
…(And How Not To Do Them)

Communication - GiveMeSomeEnglish!!!

The Seven Deadly Sins Of Communication is a brilliant (and succinct) talk about what we all can do to better communicate with each other.  It covers, not only what many people do “wrong” in their communications, but also what we can do to make sure not to fall into the trap of doing those things ourselves.

But before you watch the video — see if you can match the words below with the sentence which provides an example of exactly that kind of behavior.

Gossiping – Judging – Negativity – Complaining – Excuses – Lying – Dogmatism –
(Click Each Word Above For It’s Pronunciation)

1)  “Every time I come up with a good system for my work, the administrators go and change everything, making my job nearly impossible!”

2)  “That Bob is such nit-picker.  He clearly thinks that no one else can do their job without his help.”

3)  “I have never told a lie.  I am probably the most honest person that you will ever meet!”

4)  “Well everyone knows that once the polar ice caps melt, we will have essentially destroyed the earth”

5)  “There just doesn’t seem to be anything that we can do to solve the problem.  We should just scrap the whole idea.”

6)  “So you’ll never believe who I just heard had liposuction!  I’ll give you a hint.  It’s the same person that signs your pay-check.”

7)  “Well if the weather-man would have actually forecasted the weather correctly, then maybe I would have brought an umbrella.  And then, maybe the plans wouldn’t have gotten ruined.”

  • Did you think that the talk “Flowed” well? (i.e. The transition from the first half to the second)
  • How would you answer the speakers last question:
