The Aphorism: “Failing To Prepare Is Preparing To Fail”
It’s Meaning And Usage in The Common Tongue Of The English language
[su_dropcap style=”flat”]A[/su_dropcap]s with most other expressions in English (whether they are an Aphorism, Phrasal-Verb, Prepositional Phrase, or an Idiomatic Expression) this phrase is shortened from a longer term. This is because the much longer, and more grammatically-correct form of the phrase just wouldn’t be as “poetic”, and there-fore, would not be as effective of a statement when used.
The statement would go something like this…
“If one fails to prepare for something important — something in-which preparation is either much-needed or highly-recommended — then that ‘failure to prepare’ would be, in effect, equal to if that same person had actually prepared for the outcome of ‘failing’.”
[su_dropcap style=”flat”]A[/su_dropcap]lthough the above statement is far-more precise than the common colloquial expression, it certainly lacks the “flair” of the original statement.
[su_dropcap style=”flat”]A[/su_dropcap]dditionally, this phrase is what we sometime call: “A Play On Words”. This is because it is using the word “Fail” in two different ways.
[su_dropcap style=”flat”]O[/su_dropcap]ne of the uses of the word “Fail” is in it’s traditional definition… Meaning:
“To be unsuccessful at something tried at; To lose; To not succeed.”
Such as in the example below…
“Oh… Do you mean by: Lying, Cheating, Murdering, Pleading, Shilling For Anyone With A Buck, and Blaming everyone else under the sun for your own failures — and by basically being the most Arrogant & Disgusting Piece-Of-Sh*t to ever walk the face of this great planet? You mean THAT kind of preparing? Hmmm?”
[su_dropcap style=”flat”]A[/su_dropcap]nd the other form of the word “Fail” which is used in this phrase is in the form of the verb-phrase: (to) “Fail To” (do something) — which means: To actually NOT do it.
“Hillary Clinton Fails To Comprehend Why Everyone Hates Her”
Not that she tried and failed at comprehending — but that she just DOES NOT comprehend it at all… (or in her case doesn’t really care)
“How much longer do I have to tolerate these humans?!?!?! I thought taking over the world would be a lot easier! Someone please take me back to my lizard-pit so that I can be with others of my kind!”…
(My apologies to ACTUAL Lizards for that insult… I know that you are all better than her… I was just making a joke.)
[su_dropcap style=”flat”]S[/su_dropcap]o, by combining these two words in the same sentence — along with the (almost) “reversal” of the word order — further-more, combined with the slight irony of the fact that no one actually DOES “prepare to fail”… This is why this Aphorism is also called “A Play On Words”.
So The Moral Of The Story Is…
[su_dropcap style=”flat”]N[/su_dropcap]o matter how awesome you THINK you are — it is always a good idea to prepare for whatever situation you might be in. That way, you won’t find yourself in the embarrassing situation of looking like a complete ass in front of the whole world for all of Human History…. heheheh 😎
“I bet you didn’t ‘Prepare’ for that one, did you Shillery?!”
( Haha!!! Clearly, none of even “her own people” give a sh*t about her 😀 )
Have An Excellent Day!
(Except Hillary… Throw That Bitch In Jail!)
